Mart Molle

Professor of Computer Science and Engineering

Mart Molle received his B.Sc. (Hons.) degree in Mathematics and Computer Science from Queen’s University at Kingston, Canada in 1976, and his M.S. and Ph.D. degrees in Computer Science from U.C.L.A. in 1978 and 1981, respectively.

PROFESSIONAL ACTIVITY

Dr. Molle has served as a member of the editorial board for the IEEE/ACM Transactions on Networking, a Task Force Chair for the IEEE 802.3 Ethernet Standards Working Group, and the Executive Committees for the University of California’s CoRe and MICRO industrial matching grant programs.

RESEARCH TOPICS

Dr. Molle has served as a member of the editorial board for the IEEE/ACM Transactions on Networking, a Task Force Chair for the IEEE 802.3 Ethernet Standards Working Group, and the Executive Committees for the University of California’s CoRe and MICRO industrial matching grant programs.

LATEST RESULTS

  • The first practical method for verifying the physical location of an untrustworthy node in a wireless LAN.
  • A novel buffer management algorithm for IP routers which uses artificially-generated duplicate TCP acknowledgments for rate-reduction signaling.
  • An optimal path-selection algorithm for routers choosing between two alternatives with delays.
  • A novel medium access control protocol for impulse-based multi-band UWB networks using a stack-based conflict resolution with binary feedback.
