Yang-Chang HongAssociate Professor, Emeritus, Computer Science and Engineering
Professor Yang-Chang Hong received his B.S. and M.S. degrees in Electrical and Computer Engineering in Taiwan, and his Ph.D. in Computer Engineering from the University of Florida, Gainesville. He was a member of the Institute of Information Science of Academia Sinica, and taught at Taiwan University, Taipei, and at the University of Santa Clara, Santa Clara, California.
Key Research Topics
Dr. Hong's current research focuses on the design of a multithreaded processor for massively parallel architectures. This includes the study of a graph model of multithreaded computations, the mechanisms that allow for efficient pipelined execution of multithreaded graphs regardless of parallelism, the communication interface for each multithreaded processor that efficiently manages the remote memory requests without severely disrupting the instruction pipeline, and the issues of partitioning and compilation of the multithreaded graph to maximize the scheduling of instructions for the multithreaded processor.
