MULTIPLE FACULTY POSITIONS

The Bourns College of Engineering is seeking to fill eleven (11) tenure-track and tenured faculty positions beginning the 2014/2015 academic year. Specific areas of interest are listed in the following department or program searches:

We seek applicants who will complement the highly motivated and entrepreneurial spirit of the College faculty, and who will contribute meaningfully to the success of future teaching, research, and service accomplishments. Incumbents are expected to initiate and sustain strong sponsored research and graduate training programs.

The Bourns College of Engineering is proud of its faculty's accomplishments and rapid growth. The College currently has 92 faculty members, 2,400 undergraduates, more than 550 graduate students, and more than $32 million in annual research expenditures.

The College is home to seven interdisciplinary and multidisciplinary research centers : The Center for Bioengineering, the Center for Environmental Research and Technology (CE-CERT), the Center for Research in Intelligent Systems (CRIS), the Center for Nanoscale Science and Engineering (CNSE), the Center for Ubiquitous Communications by Light (UC-Light), the Winston Chung Global Energy Center (WCGEC), and the Center for Phonon Optimized-Engineered Materials (POEM).

FACULTY POSITIONS

Chemical and Environmental Engineering and/or Materials Science and Engineering

The Department of Chemical and Environmental Engineering at the University of California at Riverside invites applications for one tenure-track position in the field of advanced materials. Applications are especially encouraged from individuals with research interest in the development of first principles methods for materials design and screening, and in the synthesis of nanostructured materials catalyzing carbon recycling and energy generation and storage. Applicants should have a distinguished academic record, an exceptional potential to conduct world-class research, and a strong commitment to teaching chemical and environmental engineering and materials science and engineering classes at both the undergraduate and graduate levels. A doctoral degree in chemical engineering, materials science and engineering or a related field is required at time of employment.

Computer Science and Engineering

The Department of Computer Science and Engineering, University of California, Riverside invites applications for two tenure-track faculty positions beginning the 2014/15 academic year. Candidates are sought in the following areas of research: (1) Networks, Operating/Distributed Systems, and Cyber-security and (2) High-Performance and Scientific Computing. Exceptional candidates in all areas and at all levels will be considered. Positions require a Ph.D. in Computer Science (or in a closely related field) at the time of employment. Junior candidates must show outstanding research, teaching and graduate student mentorship potential. Exceptional senior candidates with outstanding research, teaching, and graduate student mentorship records will be considered. Salary level will be competitive and commensurate with qualifications and experience.

Computer Science and Engineering and Electrical Engineering (Joint Senior Faculty Position in Computer Engineering)

The Department of Computer Science and Engineering (CSE) and the Department of Electrical Engineering (EE) invite applications for a joint senior-level faculty position in the Computer Engineering Program (CEN) beginning the 2014/15 academic year. Outstanding candidates with research interests in Low Power Computer Design and Computer Architectures will be considered. The candidate will play a leading role in all aspects of the Computer Engineering Program jointly administered by the CSE and EE Departments. Exceptional candidates in all areas of Computer Engineering with outstanding research, teaching, and graduate student mentorship records will be considered. Position requires a Ph.D. in Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering or Computer Science. Salary level will be competitive and commensurate with qualifications and experience.

Electrical Engineering

The Department of Electrical Engineering at the University of California, Riverside, invites applications for a position in Smart Grid and Distributed Energy Systems. The search is focused on the Assistant Professor level. However, candidates with an exceptional record of research, teaching, and graduate student supervision will be considered at all levels. Electrical Engineering, Chemical and Environmental Engineering, and Materials Science and Engineering

The Departments of Electrical Engineering and Chemical and Environmental Engineering, and the Materials Science and Engineering Program at the University of California, Riverside, invites applications for Materials and Devices for Green and Renewable Energy. The search is focused on the senior level and will be interdisciplinary. The successful candidate will be affiliated with one or more engineering departments in the College. Mechanical Engineering and/or Materials Science and Engineering

The Department of Mechanical Engineering at the University of California, Riverside invites applications for two faculty positions (open rank) beginning the 2014/15 academic year. Exceptional candidates in all areas of mechanical engineering will be considered, with preference given to those with interdisciplinary expertise in: 1) Nanoscale materials characterization, with emphasis on thermal and/or electrical behavior; or 2) Environmental modeling, with emphasis on integrated modeling techniques, life-cycle analysis, global climate change, air quality regional dispersion modeling, and renewable energy systems.

A Ph.D. in Mechanical Engineering (or a closely related field) is required at the time of employment. Successful candidates will be formally affiliated with the Department of Mechanical Engineering, as well as the Materials Science and Engineering Program (first position), the Center for Environmental Research and Technology (second position), and/or other departments within the college. Salary will be competitive and commensurate with qualifications and experience. Full consideration will be given to applications received by January 1, 2014.
