About MESA at UCR

The mission of the MESA School's Program (MSP) at University of California, Riverside since established in 1999 is: to assists students at middle and senior high schools (and some elementary schools) so they excel in math and science and become competitively eligible for the most rigorous colleges and universities. Our MESA School's Program partners with teachers, administrators, school district officials and industry representatives to provide this academic enrichment model. Students are selected to participate in the MESA School's Program through a process that involves teachers at participating schools and locally-based MESA personnel.
There are deliverables that MESA School’s Program addresses:
(1) Supporting students in becoming effective math and science learners and inspiring them to actively pursue academic excellence and higher education;
(2) Assisting parents in becoming more effective supporters of their child’s pursuit of academic excellence, and;
(3) Supporting the professional development of math and science teachers. By focusing on areas of engagement that are directly linked to improving student and school performance.
