Mentoring Year-round in Biological Engineering, Science and Technology at the University of California, Riverside
The MY BEST @ UCR program is a National Science Foundation (NSF) Undergraduate Research and Mentoring (URM) grant that provides underrepresented undergraduates at Riverside Community College and the University of California, Riverside with research experience and mentoring designed to encourage them to pursue doctoral degrees in biological engineering-related fields. This full-year interdisciplinary program provides opportunities for undergraduate students majoring in science and engineering.

Projects and Investigators 
The core elements of this program are as follows:
(1) MY BEST @ UCR participants will be recruited during the spring from UCR and local community colleges.
(2) Students will initiate their research with intense training during the summer.
(3) Students will be provided research assistantships throughout the academic year on a part-time basis up to $12,000.
Students will present the results of their research at an annual UCR symposium and the annual Southern California Conference on Undergraduate Research, where they will meet student peers and recruiters from graduate schools. One of the unique features of the MY BEST @ UCR program is the interdisciplinary approach, combining biological sciences and engineering. Additionally, this program will recruit from a highly diverse student population at UCR and Riverside Community College campuses.
