Tech-Interns.com

With support from the National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA), ASEE has launched Tech-Interns.com, a great new site. This site is an easy-to-use resource that directs students to numerous internship programs, research opportunities, links to scholarship information, and useful career development tools. It's a searchable database with more than 200 different internship and research opportunities available in 20 different engineering and science disciplines. There are also links to additional resources on technical job opportunities, scholarship and financial aid information, articles on writing a resume, and interviewing tips. A Frequently Asked Questions page offers answers to the many different questions a student might ask on that quest for the ideal internship. The launch of Tech-Interns.com is part of ASEE's ongoing mission to provide services that promote and expand the reach of engineering educational opportunities.

The Washington Internships for Students of Engineering (WISE)

Amount: $2,100

WISE offers an opportunity for eligible engineering students to spend a summer in Washington learning how government officials make decisions on complex technological issues and how engineers can contribute to legislative and regulatory policy decisions. Students will have the opportunity to interact with leaders in the Congress and the Administration, prominent non-governmental organizations, and industry.  This is a ten week program ( June 2nd- August 8th).

Eligibility

  • be undergraduate engineering students (juniors or seniors)
  • recent graduates beginning study in an engineering policy-related Master's program.
  • citizen of the US
  • Those who are seeking sponsorship by AIChE, ANS, ASCE, ASME, the student is required to be a member of that society.

Summer Undergraduate Program in Engineering Research at Berkeley

Amount: $3,500+$600

SUPERB provides research opportunities in engineering to students who have been historically underrepresented.  This program provides students with the opportunity to gain research experience by participating in research projects with engineering faculty and undergraduate students. The program term is eight weeks ( June 16th- August 8th).

Eligibility

  • Underrepresented undergraduate engineering student

  • U.S. citizen/Permanent Resident

  • Rising Junior or Senior

The MSRIP goal is to increase the number of outstanding undergraduates from diverse backgrounds who pursue the Ph.D. by strengthening their academic and professional development for admission to University of California campuses and UC Riverside, in particular as well as other prestigious colleges and universities across the nation. The program term is eight weeks   ( June 23- August 15, 20003)

Eligibility

  • U.S. citizen or permanent resident
  • Rising junior or senior of Fall 2003
  • Interest in pursuing a graduate degree (i.e., maters, doctoral)

Research in the unique Center for Embedded Networked Sensing (CENS)

Amount: Selected students receive stipend, trasportation cost and room and board

The CENS is a NSF funded project under the Direction of the young and dynamic Professor
Deborah Estrin and is a collaborative with USC, UC Riverside, James
Reserve, JPL and CSU LA. Selected MEP students can
receive transportation costs, a good weekly stipend, room and board
allowance and a hands-on peep at the amazing concepts underlying
how  ubiquitous smart Micro/Nano senors and actuators designed on Internet
dimensions will be embedded in  the physical environment to monitor  and
collate information on anything - on a global scale.

CEED will  work to connect all students to the engineering graduate
programs and provide one-one  assessment of  what each student needs to do
present a competitive  academic profile for advanced study at UCLA . They
will also be involved the SMARTS summer program for urban high school
students. It is a good deal.

 Eligibility
  • U.S. citizen or permanent resident
  • Rising junior or senior of Fall 2003
  • Interest in pursuing a graduate degree (i.e., maters, doctoral)

The Center on Polymer Interfaces and macromolecular Assemblies (CPIMA) Seeks qualified undergraduates in chemical engineering, chemistry, materials science, physics or related fields to participate in a 10-week summer undergraduate research experience (SURE) program.  Applications are especially encouraged from women, students at primarily undergraduate institutions, student who are members of underrepresented groups, and students with physical disabilities.  The SURE program allows students to work on independent research projects involving direct interactions with research scientists, post-doctoral scholars, and graduate students at Stanford University, IBM Almaden Research Center, University of California- Berkeley, University of California- Davis or a CPIMA Affiliate.

Made possible through grants from the National Science Foundation- Materials Research Science an Engineering Center (NSF-MRSEC) and the National Science Foundation- Research Experience for Undergraduates (NSF-REU) programs, participants will recieve a stipend of $4500 for the 10-week program and some travel reimbursement.  Housing will be provided or participants will be given a housing allowance depending upon their research site.  All participants will be required to work full-time and may not have outside jobs or enroll in classes  that interfere with normal working hours.  The CPIMA SURE program will run from June 7 through August 13, although later start dates are available for those whose school schedules conflict.

Eligiblity:
