Live in an environment conducive to engineering success. Enginuity Hall is a new residence hall option designed specially to enhance success among engineering majors. Living in Enginuity will enhance the academic and social bonds you will form with your peers as you participate in our Community of Scholars program.
Learn, discover and connect with scholars in your peer group. Bourns has a special Community of Scholars program to cluster students with common career interests in the same courses, and augment these clusters with enrichment programs to encourage the formation of strong bonds and informal networks beyond the classroom. The friendships and networks that form reinforce the individual and collective pursuit of academic excellence. We have a special Student Success Coordinator dedicated to help you get the best out of this program.
Develop strong leadership skills in national engineering professional organizations. Bourns boasts a full range of student chapters of these organizations. The achievements of our student organizations are impressive – they participate in (and win!) national contests, travel to national conferences, host prominent speakers from industry, co-host workshops and social events with industry, mentor middle- and high-school students to help develop future engineers, and even coordinate social activities such as ski trips and bowling nights to meet the interest of engineering students.
Get internships and career opportunities with major regional and national employers. We have a unique Professional Development Milestones Program to help you become a leader in your engineering specialty. Our in-house Professional Development Officer works closely with our faculty on the professional mentoring of our students, and ensures that each student's talents and creative interests are matched with the right internship and career opportunities.
Engage in research and innovation with premier faculty using cutting-edge technology as early as the freshman year. A Director of Undergraduate Research works with students to assist in coordinating high quality research experiences.
Work closely with faculty advisors and academic advisors. Our faculty members take mentoring seriously. They mentor students one-on-one, connecting academic interests with postÂgraduate career and academic experiences. Our professional academic advisors will give you personal attention and work closely with you, helping you with policies and procedures, and advising you on strategies to meet your degree and career objectives.
