Bourns College of Engineering Faculty Mentoring Program

While Staff Advisors in the Office of Student Affairs provide academic advising (guidance with registration, campus resources, course planning, etc.), Faculty Mentoring is a different kind of advising assistance.  The Faculty Mentor’s goal is to promote a strong relationship between students and professors in the department as early as the first quarter of the freshman year. Faculty Mentors are available for students to consult on matters pertaining to career planning, understanding engineering in general, and specifically for gaining a better appreciation of their major. Mentors can also provide guidance on what it takes to be successful as an engineering student, and provide suggestions to enable students to gain confidence and self-motivation.
