Where can I learn more about UNIX?
First off, you can try using "man", the online manual. Just type "man commandname" to get a somewhat cryptic description of the command and its options.
Second, if you are familiar with EMACS you can use its built-in user information command: "C-h i".
Some books that cover UNIX are:
| Title | Author(s) | ISBN |
| A Student's Guide to UNIX | Harley Hahn | 0-070-25511-3 |
| UNIX for the Impatient | Paul Abrahams and Bruce Larson | 0-201-55703-7 |
You can also ask someone in your class that seems to know something.

If you are having problems with your account (ie. you can't log in), your card access, or a specific lab machine, send email to "systems@engr.ucr.edu".

How can I create my own web page?
In your H: drive, there is a ".html" folder. When you create a web page in your favorite editor and save it into this directory, it will be accessible on the web. To view your web page, go to http://www.engr.ucr.edu/~your_user_name/your_web_page.html.
