Berat received his Master's degree in Water Resources and Environmental Engineering on May 2005 from the Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering of Villanova University, Villanova, PA. He is currently working with Dr. Sharon Walker as her graduate student in bacterial adhesion research laboratory.
Berat has a B.Sc. in Biology from the Department of Biological Sciences, Middle East Technical University, Ankara, Turkey.
