Update Oct. 2009: We expect to recruit 1 or 2 graduate students to begin in the Fall of 2010.
This lab recruits Graduate Student Researchers in the general area
of
micro/nanoscale thermal properties and energy conversion.
Students work on interdisciplinary projects requiring a range of
experimental and theoretical skills, including
heat transfer, thermodynamics / thermal physics, solid state
physics, and MEMS / microfabrication. Therefore we are interested
in students with various backgrounds including mechanical
engineering, electrical engineering, and applied physics / solid state
physics.
Graduate Work at UC Riverside
UC Riverside is a dynamic and relatively young institution undergoing
an exiting period of continued growth. It is located in
Southern
California, one of the most diverse regions in the nation and featuring
pleasant weather and a large range of entertainment,
recreation, and cultural opportunities. The Department of
Mechanical Engineering is a medium-sized department, offering a
significant amount of student-faculty interaction. There are
excellent opportunities for collaboration with leading researchers in
other departments including electrical engineering, chemical and
environmental engineering, and physics. Modern shared
facilities
include state-of-the art capabilities for micro/nanofabrication and
microscopy.
To Apply
Highly-motivated students with backgrounds in mechanical engineering,
electrical engineering, and/or physics are encouraged to apply.
Preference is given to those students committed to earning
their
Ph.D.
More information about applying for the graduate program in Mechanical
Engineering is available from the websites of the ME
department and the UCR Graduate Division.
Please note that the primary application deadline is typically
the first week in January. (In some cases financial support may still
be available for applications
received after the January deadline, but the earlier we receive your
application the
better your chances.)
