Get involved in Merit Badge Day (posted 04/09/2007)

IEEE at UCR is hosting an outreach event with the Boy Scouts of America to offer engineering-related Merit Badge workshops to local boy scout troops. The event will take place Saturday, May 12th, 2007 in the EBU II CS and EE labs with two sessions - one from 8am to noon and the second from 1pm to 5pm. All clubs are invited to look at the merit badges at http://www.meritbadge.com/mb/ to see if their club would like to participate by offering workshops. If your organization would like to host a workshop IEEE needs to know which badge(s) you'd like to offer and a contact person from your organization to coordinate with (you will need at least 4 volunteers for each workshop and session). If you would like to volunteer as a helper on that day, email ieeeucr[at]gmail.com. The absolute deadline to let IEEE know if you would like to participate in any way is Wednesday, May 2nd, 2007.

SJA needs your help! (posted 11/01/2006)

While COE makes up 10% of the student population, COE makes up 30% of the most heinous academic related student judicial affairs cases. Currently, there are no Engineering students serving on the committees that hear each case. Engineering students need to be heard by fellow engineering students who understand the difficulty of maintaining academic success in engineering.

The Office of Student Judicial Affairs is offering opportunities for engineering students with a 2.5 cumulative GPA or better. They need a minimum of 5 engineering students to fill available positions on the COE Academic Integrity Committee. Having COE students serve on the committee is critically important to ensure broad deliberations, fairness and consideration of the COE student perspective. This is an outstanding opportunity to gain additional communication and leadership experience as part of your career development.

If you are interested, more information and applications are available at the SJA website: http://conduct.ucr.edu/

You can also contact Laura Riley, Director of Student Judicial Affairs, to express your interest at 951-827-4208 or laura.riley[at]ucr.edu
