Engineers Without Borders USA supports community-driven development programs worldwide through the design and implementation of sustainable engineering projects, while fostering responsible leadership. - Mission of EWB-USA Founded in 2007, the University of California, Riverside Chapter of Engineers Without Borders is part of the Inland Empire Chapter (EWB-IE, along with Cal Poly Pomona and the Inland Empire professional chapter). We are dedicated to serving the UCR campus, the City of Riverside, and any third world community who needs our technical expertise. This year, EWB at UCR is in the process of partnering with the UCR Sustainability Office and Society of Hispanic Engineers to purchase and install a compost toilet in the UCR community garden. The compost toilet will require no plumbing construction and maintenence thus saving millions of gallons of water! Our chapter is also committed to volunteering for GRID Alternatives who offers their volunteers the awesome experience of learning to install solar panels for low income families.
