The objective of this work is to understand the spin mediated thermal transport in semiconductors, ferromagnetic and dielectric nanostructures. Using 3ω method for freestanding thin films, we measure the the thermal conductivity of Ni80Fe20/MgO/p-Si stack. We also explore the effect of external magnetic field.
The objective of this project is to discover the spin mediated thermal energy conversion using earth abundant materials. We measure the longitudinal spin-Seebeck effect (LSSE) in Ni80Fe20/p-Si (polycrystalline) thin film specimen, which shows a giant second harmonic response even at 400 K contrary to most of the reported experiments.
The objective of this research is to understand the spin-Hall effect mediated emergent behavior in semiconductor thin films. The spin accumulation due to spin-Hall effect can lead to emergent metal-insulator transition and antiferromagnetism in p-Si.We hypothesize that when the spin diffusion length is of the same order as the dimension of the thin film then spin accumulation will lead to emergent behavior.
The objective of this research is to synthesize and characterize the dilute ferromagnetic semiconductor thin films.
