Welcome to a community where your success is our priority.
VISION
Support the well-rounded development of engineering students, ensuring they are equipped with: the leadership, technical, and relational skills to excel in a dynamic, interconnected world, and have the capabilities to innovate new technologies and systems addressing pressing world challenges, while giving back and leaving the world more humane and sustainable.
MISSION
The units within BCOE Undergraduate Student Affairs support the college and its departments in developing well-rounded and inspired engineering students by:
-
Providing guidance and academic development services that spark interest, clarify purpose, and a BCOE identity associated with being a scholar and an aspiring professional.
-
Enhancing students' preparation for the challenges of their coursework, readiness for career opportunities, and capacity to contribute to communities beyond the university.

Your understanding of research foundational skills
Enhanced research, analytical, and communication skills
Strengthened research portfolio
Personalized guidance and mentorship
Burst is for you,
If you are a BCOE undergraduate student
If you are interested in research and have not secured a lab
If you are participating in research and need additional training
R'STEM Engagement
BCOE’s commitment to community building and belonging goes beyond our college quarters; a strong STEM identity is also essential. BCOE and CNAS collaborate on events to foster and strengthen engagement among STEM peers. Resources fair, research opportunities, and even a college spirit event! Build community with us and create long-lasting relationships at BCOE!

Summer Bridge
Summer Bridge is designed explicitly for first-time incoming transfer students and is contingent upon the availability of grant funding. As an incoming transfer student, maximizing your time at UCR is our goal. By engaging in research early on, you will not only begin building connections with faculty and graduate students, but you will also be better equipped to navigate the quarter system and transition into UCR.
10 weeks of full-time research, including professional development workshops, training, team building, and networking opportunities!
Timeline: Applications open annually on January 1 and close on May 15.
Eligibility: First-time incoming transfer students [must submit Student Intent to Register (SIR) to UCR]
Participating students earn a $5,000 stipend. Funding and space availability are based on grant funding.
Summer Collaboration with RISE
Summer Collaboration with RISE (CNAS program)- Each summer, we collaborate with RISE on professional development workshops and continue to offer BCOE-specific programming for undergraduate researchers.
Engineering Transfer Student Support
Tap Into Resources To Ensure Your Success
BCOE has a longstanding commitment to supporting transfer students. The Transfer Transition Program was established in 2014 to help incoming transfer students adjust to UCR through a range of support services, including peer mentoring. A few years later, in 2018, the Engineering Transfer Student Center opened its doors, creating a space where transfer students could connect with fellow transfer students and build lasting connections. Our transfer student community ensures students know precisely what resources are available and align best with their goals. Please explore all UCR offers during your time here!
The Transfer Student Center offers support services to both incoming and continuing transfer students.
The Transfer Transition Program prepares incoming transfer students for the pace, rigor, and changes of a UCR education.
Continuing students become Transfer Peer Mentors, leading and supporting fellow students.
